About Us

The Finance Task Force is a group of  Lakewood community members and businesses who are participating in a series of meetings to learn about financial requirements, operations and the needs of the district now and in the future. All community members are invited to participate.

You do not need a financial background to participate in the Task Force, only a sincere desire to better understand how the school district spends your tax dollars and to help direct the future taxation of the community.

Through the meetings, Task Force members will learn about:

  • Current economic and demographic characteristics of the community

  • District’s management of taxpayers’ money and overall financial responsibility

  • Tax structure of the district and how the cost of our schools compares with the taxes charged to residents of other school districts in the region

  • Financial regulations the District must operate under

  • District’s future needs

After a thorough review of the information outlined above, the Task Force will work to develop ideas for the future of taxation for facility needs to present to the Board of Education.

Task Force meetings are hosted by Lakewood Treasurer Glenna Plaisted and led by David J. Conley, President of Rockmill Financial Consulting, LLC out of Lancaster. Rockmill specializes in government financing and has worked with many school districts in Ohio to minimize or even eliminate the need for new taxes.
